Corneal GP Lenses
Corneal GP lenses also known as RGP lenses are small diameter gas permeable contact lenses that rest only on the black portion of the eye (cornea). These lenses have a different design as compared to ROSE-K set of lenses. RGP lenses have a single design that restricts them to be used in a particular grade or severity of keratoconus. Thus these lenses correct vision only in mild cases of keratoconus.
RGP lenses are also used for correcting moderate to high amounts of astigmatism and refractive errors such as myopia (short-sightedness) and hypermetropia (far-sightedness). They are also used to correct presbyopia.
Conditions treated with RGP lenses:
Corneal Ectasia/Irregular Astigmatism
- Keratoconus (Mild keratoconus and Moderate keratoconus to some extent)
Refractive Errors
- Myopia (Short-sightedness)
- Hypermetropia (Far-sightedness)
- Presbyopia
